Diane's work takes her to many different places but when free to wile away her time, she is almost always found close to the water's edge.  The many works in this gallery were created during her private leisurely vacations with family and friends.  Her love of the subject is evident in these works.  Diane captures the most intimate details of the nautical landscape in her work.  Although Diane 's work is often referred to as “realism”,  we believe her work defies easy categorization, as from time to time she radically alters the conventions of realism.  Besides her “Saturday Fare” we find hidden in her otherwise realistic works, ethereal beings hidden in a fog, angels watching from above or caught in a reflection, Christ in the storm clouds, and even the “hand of God” in the clouds.  Diane's nautical excursions usually include the exploration of lighthouses and not necessarily during the daytime hours, warm seasons, or fair weather and her paintings of these lighthouses allow us to see them during those rare hours and in the midst of the severe weather dramas that she has experienced.  This ability of hers to capture those moments allow us to get lost in the painting and travel with her to those dramatic moments in time when icy rains or lightning storms engulf the lonely world of the lighthouse keeper.  And, if you look closely you may even see his guardian angel.
